Remita as a Fallback Collection Instrument Feature Guide

Remita as a Fallback Collection Instrument Feature Guide

Introduction

Currently, if a customer encounters a problem when adding a card, they are stuck at this point in their application. This causes a drop off when a customer is unable to proceed, resulting in the loss of potential customers.

It is on purpose that the customer does not proceed without adding a card because cards are the primary collection instrument on Originate.

To assist in resolving this issue, we will now use Remita as an alternative collection instrument, so that if you have Remita configured on your portal, customers can now proceed to skip adding card, which automatically triggers the use of Remita and the customer's bank account is now the main collection instrument.

How to Setup Remita as a Fallback Collection Instrument Feature

Step 1

In the event, you do not have a Remita account yet, Please contact your Indicina Account Manager for assistance. If you already have an account, please proceed to step 2.

Step 2

When creating a loan category or editing your category you can now configure your repayment instruments as can be seen below.

For this feature, please ensure you have selected the Requires card (pystack)  and Requires Remita Direct Debit options.

Please note:

When configuring your repayment services, you can either configure Recova or Remita and not both.

Voila! You are all set up to use this feature!

How the feature works

Once you have configured Remita and the card as your repayment instruments, what will happen is on the customer’s portal, they will now have a provision to be able to skip add card step as can be seen in the screenshot below

Once the customer clicks on the skip add debit card step link, the customer can proceed with their application and what happens in the background is a mandate is created immediately the application is completed and the Remita flow takes effect.

This means that the loan’s collection instrument is debiting the customer’s account once their loan is due.
