How to Blacklist/Whitelist A Customer

If there is a need for you to blacklist a potential fraudulent customer, you can do so with just a few clicks on the Customers page. Simply follow the following steps.

Important to note

  • You can view if a customer has been blacklisted by another merchant that uses the Originate platform

 

  1. Click on the Customers Tab and search for the customer you’d wish to blacklist and click on them.

  2. Click on the Blacklist Reports Tab

 

3. Click on the Blacklist Customer button. You should view a pop up where you can enter the reason you are blacklisting them then click on the Blacklist button.

 

4. Once you have blacklisted the customer, their BVN, email and phone number are blacklisted and this information will be saved on the Blacklist Reports tab as can be viewed below

To view if a customer has been blacklisted or not, the blacklist badge is displayed on both the customer page and also on the application page as can be seen below

Whitelisting a Customer

A customer can be blacklisted maybe by mistaken and you’d like to whitelist the customer, to do so, navigate to the Customers tab > click/search for the customer you’d like to whitelist > click on the Blacklist Report Tab > then click on the Remove Customer from Blacklist button as can be viewed below

Once the button has been clicked, you’ll view a confirmation pop up as can be viewed below

And voila! You have successfully completed whitelisting the customer

 

Setting Loan Rules on Blacklist

Once the customer has been blacklisted, based on the rules set, their loan can either be automatically denied or moved to manual review and the customer.

  1. To set this up, navigate to Settings > Loan Rules > then select an already set rule template or create a new one.

Then click on the Add New rule button as can be viewed below and scroll down to view a rule called Blacklist Status

Approved

If you’d like to auto decline any application made by a blacklisted customer, you can check the not blacklisted box.

This will ensure that any application of a blacklisted customer, either blacklisted by you or by another originate merchant is auto-declined.

Under Review

If you’d wish to instead manually review applications from blacklisted customers, you can either choose to either manually review applications blacklisted by you or by other merchants as can be seen in the screenshot below.
